About Charly Tango International DX-Group

Anyone who still is working CB radio DX today and comes across the call sign Charly Tango knows that this once has been a respected club. The founder and President of Charly Tango was Eberhard Albrecht, better known as PIT, 13CT001.
Pit, previously 13CT001

The Charly Tango Club was founded in February 1985 by the vice-president Fred in Winterwijk with his callsign 19CT001 in the Netherlands. In 1987 the Club became an official registered Association.

The meaning “Borderland” by its name was the area between
the German Cities of Borken / Emmerich and the Dutch Arnhem on the Lower Rhine side.

PIT's worldwide DX group's goal was making friends on CB radio Frequency's all over the World regardless of nationality, religion, race and Political attitude.

Every year there were major international events, meetings, DX - expeditions, contests with special call signs for Holidays, field days and meetings took place. The CT and its members were the "AFD" affiliated and therefore represented in the DAKfCBNF.

The latest information at the time was in the annual membership list which was already 120 pages long and illustrated with many photos.

The CHARLYTANGO-DX-CLUB was founded in February 1985 in Borken / Wesfalia founded by 13 CT 001 PIT (Eberhard). It was an international Association with more than 6,000 active radio operators around the world at that time.

The club's goals were to go DXing in the CB bands (11m/27MHz) to promote international friendship among radio operators without prejudice against any religion, race or political opinion.

In the DX club every radio operator have had his own call sign (which could be still active today), making it quick and safe for DX QSO's.

The other stage can be recognized and the QSL card exchange can be carried out without a lengthy process with possible Address information. Many active stations with an original CT callsign are QRV abroad.

About its history of the International Borderland DX Club and general information you will find at our homepage at DX-CharlyTango.de.

Unfortunately, PIT past away in the year 2000 after serious illness at the age of only 49.
He was available 24/7 for his club and its members !

After 23 years we have decided to pass on the callsign to another friend of PIT.
